Queen Zaynab Foundation

The humanitarian spine of the ZOGA group.

Founded in 2016 by Her Majesty Queen Zaynab Otiti Obanor, the Foundation has built a four-programme portfolio across women's economic empowerment, gender-based violence prevention, orphan and school rehabilitation, and rural water infrastructure.

Women-led enterprise programme in rural Nigeria
Project SIWAJU

More than 8,500 women trained across Nigeria and West Africa.

"Forward" (Yoruba)

Project SIWAJU

Reach
8,500+ women trained

Training more than 8,500 women in artisan and trade skills, paired with start-up capital, cooperative structures, and market access — so graduates earn sustainably from locally sourced materials rather than cycling in and out of dependence.

Continental campaign

1in3Africa

Reach
Launched 2017

Awareness and advocacy against domestic and sexual violence. Launched in Lagos in June 2017 with a public march from Falomo to Bar Beach — the first African monarch-led march on the subject, joined by the Emir of Kano and prominent figures in Nigerian film and music.

Orphanage & training support

#Forward

Reach
Lagos & Benin

Rehabilitation of orphanages and vocational training centres across Lagos and Benin — refurbishment, supplies, wraparound support, and sustained partnerships with local operators.

Rural infrastructure

Water for Wellness

Reach
Rural Nigeria

Solar-powered boreholes in rural communities that have never had reliable potable water — prioritising locations where women and girls bear the daily cost of water collection.

Partnerships & recognition

A decade of institutional partnerships.

UN Population Fund (2016) — partnership with the late Dr Babatunde Osotimehin on maternal health, sexual and reproductive health, youth participation, and humanitarian response.

City of Philadelphia (2016) — civic honour for sustained charitable contributions. Also recognised in the same year by U.S. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and the State of New Jersey.

Humanitarian of the Year, Kechie's Project (2017) — presented during UN General Assembly week in New York; shared honours with former President Goodluck Jonathan and CNN anchor Don Lemon.

On the Foundation's posture
"I have been so shocked by what I see the society turning into that I am left with no choice than to march in the streets to raise awareness."
— Her Majesty Queen Zaynab Otiti Obanor, on the launch of 1in3Africa, 2017
